John Maa, MD

Past 2013 President/Governor

Dr. John Maa is a general surgeon at Chinese Hospital in San Francisco and is an elected Democratic Party Delegate for Assembly District 17. For the past decade he has been on staff at Marin General Hospital, where he was Chief of the Division of General and Acute Care Surgery from 2018 to 2020 and researched e-bike safety across Marin County and California. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1991 to 2000 and was President of the San Francisco Marin Medical Society in 2018. He served as Chair of the University of California Office of the President Tobacco Related Disease Research Program from 2013 to 2017 and President of the Northern California Chapter of the American College of Surgeons in 2013.
